A big thanks goes out to "pgcards23" (eBay) for contacting me regarding the Justin Duchscherer 2009 Bowman Chrome Yellow Printing Plate 1/1!  The printing plate arrived today, and it is another fantastic addition to the collection.  You can view it here.  It's always a great day when you can add a 1/1 to the personal collection.  I have also uploaded a scan of the Justin Duchscherer 2007 Sacramento River Cats Alumni card.  That is a cool card with Justin Duchscherer front and center.  You can view it here

Well, that will probably wrap it up for 2011.  What an amazing year for me: personally, professionally, and through my additions to my Justin Duchscherer collection.  I am now a mere twenty-eight (28) cards away (193/221) from completing my Justin Duchscherer non-1/1 collection.  I'd love to continue chipping away at the same rate as the last month or two, with a card or two here and there trickling in.  Hopefully, I'll be able to land a couple of my Justin Duchscherer "white whales" (like the 2009 Topps Triple Threads Dual Patch Logoman 1/1 pictured here), too.

As for other collection goals in 2012, I believe I'll be able to wrap up my Pete Maravich Topps run in PSA 8.  I'd also like to find a group PSA submission to send in the last three cards for my Rickey Henderson Topps run in PSA 8 or higher.  I'm also looking to start moving more into vintage cards, starting with a Sandy Koufax Topps run in PSA 6.  That should be a fun set to put together, but I'll have to really save up for Koufax's rookie card (like I did for my Pete Maravich rookie card).

I hope everyone had an awesome 2011, and here is to an even better 2012!

I received two unexpected early Christmas gifts today.  First, I'd like to thank Jon Gum of JS Sports Cards for tracking down a 2007 Sacramento River Cats Multi-Ad team set.  I received that set in the mail today and flipped through it looking for Justin Duchscherer #11 in the set.  However, I kept flipping and flipping, and I found no Justin Duchscherer cards in the set.  Did Beckett have it wrong?  Yes!  The very last card in the set (#35 of 35) is an alumni card featuring Justin Duchscherer along with a number of other former River Cats!  I was getting a bit nervous there, but that card is a great addition to my Justin Duchscherer collection.  I will upload a scan of the card shortly.

The second unexpected gift came in the form of an out-of-the-blue email from an individual asking me if I'd be interested in purchasing a Justin Duchscherer card from him.  He opened a couple boxes of 2009 Bowman Chrome, pulled the Justin Duchscherer Yellow Printing Plate 1/1, and found me through this website!  It's very cool to be contacted about a 1/1 card, and I'm thankful that he took the time to find me.  We reached a quick agreement and the printing plate will be on its way to me on Tuesday, December 27!  Two fantastic Christmas presents for my collection!

Here's wishing a Merry Christmas to everyone, and a Happy New Year!

Special thanks goes to "Tomz1", a member of SportsCardFun.com, for the new addition to my Justin Duchscherer collection!  Yesterday, I received in the mail the Justin Duchscherer 2004 SP Authentic USA Signatures #4 /50.  The scan has been uploaded to the website.  You can check out the card here.  That completes my entire 2004 Team USA print run for Justin Duchscherer, and brings my current non-1/1 card total to 192/221 (86.88%)!  Just 29 cards to go, and one of those cards (the 2007 Sacramento River Cats card) should be in hand in the next week or two.

I'm still pursuing a few leads regarding Justin Duchscherer cards that I have not yet acquired, and I'm looking forward to seeing how they pan out in the coming weeks.  It would be awesome to knock out a few more cards over the holidays.  In the meantime, I have expanded my Pete Maravich collection, including my basic Topps PSA 8 run (1970-1980).  I picked up a very nice 1971 Topps # 55 PSA 8 to add to the collection.  You can view that card here.  I also received a number of Manny Pacquiao Allen & Ginter cards, including a Glossy version /999, a code card, and a sweet base card in PSA 10!  These are fun side projects to work on while I search for more Justin Duchscherer cards.

TIme has been a little short the last few weeks, but I still keep up with my basic searches.  I'm still holding out hope that Santa will have that 2009 Topps Triple Thread Dual Patch Logoman 1/1 wrapped up under the Christmas tree for me!

Well, that was quick!  In the last 24 hours, I was able to negotiate deals with two individuals for two Justin Duchscherer cards on my want list: 1) 2004 SP Authentic USA Signatures /50, and 2) 2007 Sacramento River Cats MultiAd #11.  The 2007 Sacramento River Cats team set was actually rather hard to find, though one just popped up on eBay in addition to the set I will receive.  The dealer, though, won't have the set in for 10-14 days, so I'll have to be patient.  I am very excited about the 2004 SP Authentic USA Signatures /50 because it will complete my entire Justin Duchscherer 2004 Team USA print run.  Plus, he has an awesome signature, so any card with his autograph will look very cool.

I'm excited to get these two new additions in hand.  That would bring my total to 193/221 (87.33%).  My goal is to get to 90% by next summer (2012), but, of course, that all depends on how many cards pop up.  At this point, I have virtually exhausted the online searches.  It is nice to know, though, that continually updating my want lists on the various card forums is paying off.  You never know who could be checking in one day, so I just stay diligent.  I'd really like a few more 1/1's to hit the grid, but I can't imagine anything showing up before baseball season.  Hopefully, Duchscherer signs a free agent deal over the winter, stays healthy, and gets back to his old form.

I just received my lot from CheckOutMyCards (COMC), which included the Justin Duchscherer 2009 Upper Deck Gold #795 /99.  That card has been scanned and added to the 2009 page on this website.  That brings my total to 191/221 (86.43%)!  Only 30 cards to go.  It had been a little while since my last Duchscherer mailday, but I just keep chipping away at it and I continue to post my Duchscherer want lists on various forums.

Speaking of the forums, I just received an email today from an individual who has a card on my want list: 2004 SP Authentic USA Signatures /50!  Hopefully, I'll be able to work out a deal with him so that I can complete the entire Justin Duchscherer 2004 USA print run.  That email definitely perked me up today.  I also have emails out to an individual that could have many of the older, non 1/1 cards for my collection.  I'm looking forward to seeing how that develops over the coming weeks.  I'm also looking forward to (hopefully) hearing back from the individual who has the 2009 Topps Triple Threads Dual Patch Logoman 1/1.  That would be a nice Christmas present.

In the meantime, I have been working on my Pete Maravich and Manny Pacquiao collections.  I picked up a large lot of Pacquiao's base Allen & Ginter cards, and I will put a large lot on eBay as soon as the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight is announced (if it is ever announced, that is).  On COMC, I snatched up about twenty Maravich cards, and on eBay I grabbed a Pete Maravich 1971 Topps PSA 8 for my Maravich collection.  I'll upload a scan of that card shortly.  I have a large quantity of Rickey Henderson cards (maybe 75-100) that I need to inventory for my Rickey Henderson collection (approximately 500 different cards).  All in all, these side collections are an inexpensive way to have some fun while I wait for the next big Justin Duchscherer score!
