The Justin Duchscherer card search is not going well. There is nothing new out there at this time, and it is a bit frustrating. I am still only 16 cards away from completing my non-1/1 collection, and I am hopeful that something will surface at the Tri Star show in a few weeks. I just finished up three fantasy baseball drafts today (nerd alert!), so I'll take some time tonight to continue the search and update my posts on various card collecting websites.
On the bright side, I did make a purchase today for some pretty cool Justin Duchscherer memorabilia. I bought two passes to the 2009 National Sports Convention with Justin Duchscherer Upper Deck cards embedded in the passes! One pass is for "Guest/Media", and the other pass is for "VIP". They will be fun additions to my Duchscherer collection. I try to stay away from memorabilia because I just don't have the storage space, but it will be easy to find room for these passes. Plus, I have been messaging with the seller, and he may have various other Justin Duchscherer passes. I'm looking forward to receiving those!
On a side note, my bracket is still in decent shape for March Madness. I have two of the final four teams (Kentucky and Ohio State), and I'll be cashing in if they meet up in the championship game!
Man, it has been a crazy week and a half or so. I'm working 10+ hour days, six days a week, which has left virtually no time to look for cards for my Justin Duchscherer collection. I still check a few of the major sites each night for about five minutes, but that is about it. It's been virtually a full month since my last Duchscherer mailday. I am definitely itching to add more cards, so much so that I have considered obtaining duplicates (I only keep one of each card right now). Still, I don't pull the trigger on acquiring duplicates because I'd rather spend that money on other collections.
I did receive an awesome surprise today, courtesy of my friend, Erik! I came home from another long day of work and found that familiar golden envelope waiting for me on the kitchen table. Lo and behold, Erik had gone by his local card shop and came across some Rickey Henderson cards for my collection! He's a thoughtful friend and he always tells me, "Don't thank me. Don't send me cards." Ha. I am definitely looking to return the favor when the TriStar Show arrives in April. Thanks, Erik!
Nothing new to report on the Justin Duchscherer front. I still have 16 cards remaining on my non-1/1 want list, with no new leads on the remaining cards. I make sure to update my posts twice a week on several different card collecting websites, and I update my want ad on Craigslit every two weeks or so. I also continue to check eBay, COMC, and Beckett each night for any sign of the remaining cards. I don't foresee anything becoming available anytime soon, but I am optimistic that something cool may pop up at the TriStar Show in San Francisco in April.
I did receive a package from "John1580", a member on the Beckett and FCB forums. It contained a number of 2011 Topps Tier One base cards for my set! John was contacted by a friend of mine, Erik. John had just opened some boxes of 2011 Topps Tier One, and Erik mentioned that I was looking for the base cards for my set. John sent those cards to me out of the blue, which was an amazing gesture! I really appreciate him taking the time to send me those cards. I'll have to keep an eye out at TriStar for anything he may like. I made the decision not to purchase any cards this month so that I may save up for TriStar. it should be a blast!
